What Can I Do (original version, read annotation before use, DON’T blindly trust tracklist or ISRC)
~ Recording by The Corrs
Annotation
“What Can I Do” is notoriously bad for mixing up the Tin Tin Out remix with the original version. This is the original version. Correct ISRC is US-AT2-98-00219. US-AT2-98-01078 does not belong on this recording.
Beware of the following
- Spotify and other digital services can and will incorrectly credit a track as the Tin Tin Out remix while it is in fact the original.
- The “official music video” on YouTube is in fact the Tin Tin Out remix.
- Various artists releases are likely to incorrectly credit the Tin Tin Out remix to be original and vice versa.
If you are adding a new release, try to ascertain which recording is featured on your release and use the correct recording (see below). If unsure, create a new recording and let someone else figure it out.
Distinguishing between versions
The easiest way to distinguish between the versions is by using your ears. However, be aware that YouTube videos may also have incorrect titles. It is advised to use the following two videos:
- Original version as it appears on the Talk on Corners standard edition release
- Tin Tin Out remix as it appears on the Talk on Corners special edition release
In case one of the above videos is unavailable:
- The original version starts with “du‐du‐du” vocals over bass chords, followed by the first verse without any percussion. Percussion starts at the chorus.
- The Tin Tin Out remix starts with guitars, percussion starts before the first vocal line.
If you have ISRCs available:
- US‐AT2‒98‒00219 belongs to the original version
- US‐AT2‒98‒01078 belongs to the Tin Tin Out remix
However, beware that it is possible for ISRCs to be incorrectly assigned, especially on streaming services.
If you are 100% sure it is the original version, use What Can I Do. If you are 100% sure it is the Tin Tin Out remix, use What Can I Do (Tin Tin Out remix).
