This version, with all-English lyrics (written by Norman Newell), was released as the title track of Shirley Bassey's 1968 album This Is My Life — except in Italy. In Italy, a different version of the album (titled This Is My Life (La vita)) — with a different tracklist — was released the same year, that included "La vita" as its leading track. That version of the song, with a mix of Italian and English lyrics (the latter also contributed by Newell), had presumably been the version Bassey had performed live at the Sanremo Music Festival earlier that year.
