A sampler compiling cuts from the mythical Nat Hentoff Candid label period (1960-1961), issued by the "revitalized" modern Candid...
The music is of very high quality (Mingus, Don Ellis, etc), and even extremely exigent (Cecil Taylor), which makes this kind of a strange release - amateurs obviously prefer (or already own) the complete albums, while this is hardly a smooth-and-gentle-Verve-like-introduction...
But after all, maybe some rare and curious soul will accidentally discover the gems in here...
