Annotation

"The sun king is dying, though not yet passed. Already his bed has been carried into the court, where musicians strike up one tune, then another, and soldiers haphazardly assemble and march in review. In the corners, courtiers whisper their doubts, and the king's advisers glance at one another and bend closer to hear his labored breath. All is uncertainty and confusion."
