Let's Talk About Us (chat & 2 false starts named (1.3), take named (1.4) on BCD 17254)

~ Recording by Jerry Lee Lewis

Annotation

Firstly issued in 1982 on "The Sun Years" (12 LP set). Contains studio noise, two false starts (0:43 & 0:07) and take 5 of version 1 (net length 2:03).
Note from the back cover of Record 9 of "The Sun Years". Songwriter Otis Blackwell continued to have a good reputation in the Lewis camp long after "Great Balls of Fire" and he continued to submit rocking material with a commercial bent. "Let's Talk About Us" is one of Blackwell's best songs, and it is no surprise that Jerry worked long and hard on it. This early take is still part of the learning process and Jerry rehearses his "breathless" reading of the title line when he stops to complain about the dragging beat. Eventually, Jimmy Van Eaton's relentless and solid drumming would be a key to the success of the song and even at this early stage it works quite well.
