CSR Compact Disc

CSR is the abbreviation for CBS/Sony Records. The CSR plant in Japan was the first CD pressing plant in the world.

CBS/Sony CD’s have a transparent center and often, if not always, CSR COMPACT DISC repeated three times in the hub. Very early pressings have a gold tone, and the text MANUFACTURED BY CBS/SONY RECORDS INC in the hub. Later pressings are silver. The matrix info is written in a crude “dot matrix” font.
